Self-love. One of the most important things that we, as human beings, should practice. People may think it's such a silly concept, but in reality, we need it to survive physically and emotionally. Self-love affects everything about us and yet many people don't practice it. I believe that practicing self-love will save you. I know that it saves me, countless amount of times.

So what does self-love really mean? What's the definition of this concept? In my words, self-love means accepting who you are, as you are, and recognizing that you don't need to be perfect to meet beauty standards. Self-love means that you know your value and you know that you are enough. Self-love means you care enough about yourself to never tolerate disrespect. Self-love means you set boundaries. Self-love means you have difficult conversations. Self-love means letting go of your past. Self-love means everything.

Though the concept is easy to understand, practicing it is more difficult than you think. To truly love and accept yourself, you have to be consistent in believing that you deserve the absolute best. You have to be consistent in meeting the definition of self-love. And let's face it, consistency is hard, but loving yourself is harder. I would know. Choose your hard: would you rather hate yourself because you weren't consistent in practicing self-love or make the effort to love yourself every single day of your existence and be happy with who you are? Choose your hard.

And to convince you to start practicing self-love, here is a list of reasons why it's important to consistently practice this concept;

  1. Practicing self-love is important because it reduces the negative thoughts that you may have & increases the positive thoughts.

  2. It's the best way to take care of our perspective of ourselves.

  3. It increases the amount of self-compassion you have.

  4. It increases self-confidence.

  5. It increases self-empowerment.

  6. It reduces stress & anxiety.

And if this list isn't reason enough to start practicing self-love, I think that you may remain an emotionally unhealthy person for the rest of your life. That's not good, sweetheart.

If you are ready to start practicing self-love, keep reading because I'm about to share a list of unique solo dates you can go on alone. Don't be intimidated by solo dates because it's 2023, and we are doing whatever it takes to love ourselves.

There are so many more ideas, of course, but the important thing is that you do what you choose to because we all have different ideas of a 'self-love solo date'. As long as you are doing what you choose and what you love, it truly doesn't matter. Going on solo dates gives you a boost of positive energy and self-empowerment so I personally would recommend going on one date once a week. The amount of love you will discover for yourself will astound you.

Additionally, I would highly recommend that you start saying daily affirmations to yourself in the mirror. Trust me, it's not as ridiculous as it sounds. The more positive and loving energy you send out into the universe, the more positive and loving energy you get in return. Here are some self-love affirmations, from the 'Gratitude Blog', for you to practice:

  • "I love myself just as I am today."

  • "I appreciate all the ways that I am unique."

  • "I deserve a peaceful and loving life."

  • "I am inhaling confidence and exhaling fear."

  • "I am a good person who deserves happiness, health, and peace."

  • "I am powerful."
